REAM has partnered with the following assoications to aid them in their efforts to recruit quality people for the following volunteer
opportunities. If any of these opportunities is of interest to you, please contact the organization directly.

SOAR 55, SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES AFTER REACHING 55 is sponsored by the Newton Community Service Center and is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service, a network of volunteer agencies. SOAR 55 provides adults 55 and over with the opportunity to explore how their skills, interests and talent can help local non-profits and civic organizations meet critical community needs in Newton, Wellsley, Weston, Natick, Framingham, Wayland and Ashalnd. THE AMERICAN RED CROSS is seeking volunteers to make presentations to students in grades 5-7 about life-saving skills specific to choking, the need for being prepared fo the unexpected and the importance of youth involvement in their communicities through working with the American Red Cross of Mass Bay. As a presenter you will be given traingin for each of the three courses and fir the presentations into your own schedule. EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS LITERACY COUNCIL is seeking volunteers who are willing to serve as English literacy tutors.For more information about EMLC, visit the EMLC Web site: www.emlc.org or (781)395-2374.


LIFE AFTER TEACHING is an organization that has published several books on the subject of retirement and make the most of your retirement experience. A web based survey has been set up for individuals wishing to share their experiences for use in future
publications. You can access this survey at http://www.afterteaching.com/survey. Alan Roadburg is the author of the book Life After Teaching, Road Map to Retirement Happiness.


THE NEW ENGLAND AQUARIUM
has a volunteer program for retired persons. A program of particular interest is the Aquarium Guide
program. Aquarium Guides are ambassadors to the public at the Aquarium, answering questions to visitors about marine life and aquatic animals, and giving presentations at our various exhibitions from the Giant Ocean Tank to the Aquarium Medical Center to Amazing Jellies.
